@AFistfulof45s @plankdaboy I remember when the VP9 came out, I went to the local gunstore and a buddy who worked there took the slide off and we looked into the frame and were like wtf there's twice as many parts in this thing than a Glock.

@bmitori @plankdaboy Roll pins should be a non-starter these days.
English

@bmitori Also indoor ranges people seem more closed off but before, after, and sometimes during comp people are happy to give tips and advice.
Fuck the RO might do it for you.

People have a lot of misconceptions about competition shooting.
It costs $20 an hour to shoot at the local indoor range. For $20 I can shoot a half dozen stages over the course of several hours at my local action pistol club.

@bmitori @studentofthegun There's also no proof that comp shooting is better than other means of training either. It's a Gucci bag for guys. Expensive and does the same thing as cheaper options. Driving sprint cars on the weekend doesn't inherently make me better at driving a minivan or a cop car.

@WeaponOutfitter I learned a younger kid I used to skate with made it into CAG.

@bmitori Dry fire only takes a few minutes. Even once or twice a week will go a long way.

@AGRobBonta 2025 was the lowest homicide rate in at least 125 years for the whole country, your stupid gun laws had nothing to do with it.

@BenStoeger187 What I want to know is if these un commanded discharges (or the wobble test with the trigger slightly depressed) can be replicated in models with a safety and with the safety engaged

@isfjcutebear Guns are a symbol of freedom that citizens of other countries aren't allowed to have.
English

@Kisasi_Lion @firearmvideos The finger safety is to stop inertial discharges from a dropped gun, it's not meant to stop the trigger from being pressed.
English

@firearmvideos Simple fact 90% of people hate the finger safety bullshit that doesnt work
Revolvers at least have the high pull weight
Semi autos need a manual safety period, wont ever buy one without it
English

@Freedum4murika I've heard some IPSC matches in Europe are like that.
English

@bmitori Hell yeah. Also, I'd pay serious money for a luxury club that let me do 2 gun without spending 80% of the time waiting for old guys to finish pasting/jawing so it takes 6 hours when it could take 2.
It's fun and all but if I could do it in like 1 hr, every week I'd go more.
English

@WeaponOutfitter I used to buy guns to collect guns.
Now I buy guns for specific purposes so that I can have experiences.

@SpencerGuard Yeah. Kazakhstan is next after Ukraine. I wonder if it has its own Budapest security assurances.

Fascinating history: In 1994, the U.S. and Kazakhstan launched Project Sapphire to remove 600 kg (about 1,300 pounds) of weapons-grade uranium from the Ulba Metallurgical Plant in Ust-Kamenogorsk, Kazakhstan. U.S. DoD/DOE teams worked with Kazakh officials to secure and repackage it, then airlifted it to the U.S. on USAF C-5s in about 3–4 weeks once on the ground.
