statistically speaking, at current valuation levels, the s&p has a 10-year forward expected return of zero (negative in real terms) - so you will probably need alpha not just high beta
but there are always ways to make money even in a bear market
iv will be elevated so selling options for example

@ThematicTrader @aleabitoreddit You have no idea what I’ve had him read, books about markets and cycles I didn’t read until I was in my mid 20s. He just finished The Fourth Turning lol. Wharton undergrad is calling his name 😂

$SIVE $SIVE.ST $SIVEF Interim Update 200526
*IMPORTANT*
Just spotted this, but look at how $SIVE has been unable to close above $56.50 for awhile now.
We need to close above this level the next time we test it to confirm another move upwards imo.
If not this may be a bearish triple top pattern if we can't break $56.50.
Just my 2c.

When I was 15 I thought ~800k was enough. I would b&h spy and chill in yunnan comfortably on 28k usd/year
When I was 19 I thought ~1.2m was enough. I have ways to beat the market and can sell options for income plus write novels for spare change in a 2nd tier city in china
When I was 21 I thought ~2.4m would be enough. With the above methods I can have occassional luxuries and oversea trips.
When I crossed $1m mark recently at 23, I feel like it has to be 5M+; I want more security, being able to return to a developed nation, and potentially support a loved one if I ever enter a relationship.
The goalpost moves every year and to be honest, I love the feeling of making money. I love the respect I got from it. I love being correct and getting rewarded for it.
more... I need more......

$100k at 35 is rough. Still time to make up ground, but even 500k of savings at 35 puts you far from financial independence. Having a family with kids is expensive. I mean I guess it also depends where you live. In my suburb $3 million gets you a middle of the road house. If you live in nowhere, Iowa though it can get you a castle. So just depends on cost of living to a large degree.
