A Reform candidate in Bradford called Muslims pure scum and said he wanted to blast them off the face of the earth, while a Reform candidate in Croydon published a paper arguing Covid was a Pentagon-led conspiracy. Nigel Farage says Reform has the best vetting procedures in Britain, and yet candidates like this keep getting through.

Horrifying video which totally contradicts the Israeli military claims that the ambulances are being used for ‘military purposes’. The attacks killed 4 medics in Nabatieh in south Lebanon including a young father we interviewed a few weeks ago, Mahdi Abou Zeid. I’ll repost the report in this thread. His last words to us:’ If we rest, who will do the job’ 🧵

A horrifying video shared by the Nabatieh Emergency Services of today’s repeated and consecutive Israeli strikes on at least 3 different paramedic groups responding to a strike site in southern Lebanon, killing least 4 paramedics. Over 91 health workers killed since March 2.

🇧🇷🇪🇸 Lula and Sánchez Convene Progressive Leaders in Barcelona Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva arrived in Spain Friday for a two-day summit billed as one of the most significant gatherings of the global left in recent years, under the banner of the “Global Progressive Mobilisation.” Attendees include European Council President António Costa, Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum, South African President Cyril Ramaphosa, Colombian President Gustavo Petro, and leaders from Uruguay, Lithuania, Ghana, and Albania. New York Mayor Zohran Mamdani will participate via video, and former Palestinian Prime Minister Mohammad Shtayyeh is also expected. U.S. Senator Chris Murphy (D-Conn.) is the lone American official attending in person. Organizers expect 3,000 attendees and representatives from over 100 parties across five continents. The agenda centers on wage inequality and electoral strategy at a moment when the right is ascendant across Europe and North America. It reflects a broader effort by progressive governments in the Global South and Europe to coordinate strategy and build an international community, with Sánchez’s Spain – one of the few remaining left-led governments in Western Europe – serving as host. Lula described it carefully: “This is not going to be an anti-Trump meeting. We are going to discuss the state of democracy, to see what went wrong and what we have to do to repair it.“

We’ve spotted several almost identically-worded social media posts claiming 460 masked rioters recently stormed migrant hotels in Rotherham and Tamworth. But this isn’t true. South Yorkshire and Staffordshire police forces confirmed this didn’t happen. fullfact.org/immigration/fa…

It should be a much bigger story that JD Vance flew to Hungary, stood on a campaign stage, and told voters to return a head of government widely documented for human rights abuses and democratic backsliding. Then, after his candidate lost, Vance said what had happened during the Hungarian campaign was “one of the worst examples of foreign election interference that I’ve ever seen or ever even read about.” Was he describing himself? The Hungarian people rejected it all. Democracy held, despite America’s intervention, not because of American leadership. The United States has long argued that elections should be free from outside influence. That standard should apply to everyone, including us. nytimes.com/2026/04/07/wor…

I think @EstherMcVey1 needs to resign. We cannot have this sort of misinformation going around which could cause tourist numbers to go down and make our country poorer. An apology and a resignation please.

The homelessness charity Centrepoint is to cut ties with its celebrity ambassador Sharon Osbourne after she expressed support for a far-right rally being organised by violent grifting multiply-convicted far-right wanker Tommy Robinson. Centrepoint, which had recently engaged Osbourne as an ambassador for a campaign, said: “This sort of event does not align with our values. Centrepoint has a proud history of supporting young people whatever their background, ethnicity or religion. If we want young people to thrive in this country then we need to ensure our society continues to allow them to live without fear and able to access the opportunities they need to start education or work and leave homelessness behind.” theguardian.com/politics/2026/…

@japantimes I was completely blown away by my trip to China 10 years ago. The scale of it is overwhelming. The natural landscapes stunning. The cities huge and so technologically advanced. Can’t wait to go back one day.

I'll say it again: China doing their visa-free policy is the most underrated strategic decision they made in recent years. Decades of Western propaganda painting the country as a dystopian hellscape, undone by people simply going there and using their own eyes. And now China is on track to become the most visited country in the world 👇
