Unfortunately, it's like this for a lot of creative fields. As a reader, I rarely leave them because the push for reviews is exhausting. 😅 For example, based on what I've seen: - Some folks don't just want reviews on Amazon, but Good Reads as well. Registering for a second site is a hassle, especially since it provides no benefit to the reader. - They want in-depth reviews, an explanation on what they liked/disliked, and for it to be framed in a way that doesn't damage the ego or overall rating. Essentially, some folks want compliments, not reviews. - A lot of reviews are made by other authors. If you're an aspiring author too, leaving anything less than glowing praise risks ostracism, even if it's a genuine critique focused on growth. If the standards are lowered, more folks might be inclined to leave a review. Not all readers are writers. Just a starred rating or a sentence or two should be enough. Any review of any length should be enough. The book may be the author's entire world, but it's just a small part of the readers. They have their own. 🙂

Being an indie author is weird. You pour your time, effort, money, soul into your story. The excitement and love you have for it is hard to describe, and even harder to keep to yourself. Then you publish, anxious to share the hype with anyone who is willing. And you largely get a ‘meh’ response, if you get one at all. It’s not the response you would’ve liked, but maybe a handful of people left you some encouraging feedback. Then you do it again.

@Mike_Sharpe_ We need to bring back boxing to schools. It's a fantastic workout, the cardio is killer, it boosts your confidence, and it's a lot of fun. 🙂

@burstmethod Hybrid Theory was a game-changer, and Linkin Park really set the bar with it. Seeing (and photographing) Chester Bennington live would’ve been incredible.

There will never be another band like Linkin Park.
