Are We About to See “NIO 40K” Again? NIO delivered 37,705 vehicles in May, up 62.3% year-over-year and 28.4% month-over-month. ✅ The NIO brand delivered 20,013 vehicles, up 50.8% year-over-year. The all-new ES8 has now achieved nine consecutive months of growth and reached its 110,000th delivery milestone last month. In May alone, it still delivered an impressive 11,475 units. The all-new ES8 has also claimed the sales crown in the large SUV segment and the RMB 400,000+ market for five consecutive months. With the launch and delivery ramp-up of the new growth driver, the NIO ES9, there should be significant room for delivery growth in June. ✅ The ONVO brand delivered 12,029 vehicles, up 91.5% year-over-year and 124.8% month-over-month. The ONVO L80 delivered 5,949 units within just 15 days of launch, and its first full delivery month still holds considerable upside potential. Meanwhile, the refreshed 2026 ONVO L90, which officially launched on May 9, is expected to put this “well-rounded all-rounder” back in front of large three-row SUV buyers, likely driving another upward delivery curve in June. And don’t forget — the upgraded ONVO L60 will officially launch on June 11 with all its previous shortcomings addressed: rear entertainment screen, in-car refrigerator, sunshades, Shenji chip, LiDAR, NIO World Model… now it has everything. ✅ The firefly brand delivered 5,663 vehicles, up 53.9% year-over-year and 13.7% month-over-month. Last month, firefly also reached the milestone of 60,000 cumulative deliveries. I’m really looking forward to seeing what new surprises this little car will bring next. ✅ NIO’s Q2 delivery guidance stands at 110,000–115,000 vehicles. With 29,356 vehicles delivered in April, the company would need to deliver between 42,939 and 47,939 vehicles in June to meet its guidance. Back in October last year, NIO achieved its first-ever 40K+ monthly delivery milestone with 40,397 vehicles delivered. Saturday reflection on NIO: This week wasn’t just about another product launch. The ES9 arrived with pricing that was deliberately sharper than pre-sale expectations. In a market where many still chase headlines and hype, NIO chose to prioritize competitiveness and volume potential over protecting a higher sticker price. It’s a subtle but important signal: the company is shifting from “premium innovator” to “premium executor”, willing to make pragmatic moves to gain share in China’s brutal high-end segment. The rapid delivery start and Yao Ming activation added strong storytelling, but the real test remains execution in the coming quarters. In volatile times like these, I find myself focusing less on daily swings and more on whether NIO is building a durable business model (tech differentiation + BaaS + multi-brand portfolio). One week doesn’t prove the thesis, but moments like this remind me why patience matters in this story. Curious how others are viewing the ES9 launch in the bigger picture. #NIO $NIO
