This is our first time participating in an octant round, so it's definitely been a learning experience. Thanks for sharing your insights! From our POV, attaching metrics to rounds would be amazing, though we're probably a bit biased because we're directly tokenizing quantified impact. The challenge probably lies in how many projects in web3 are in the game of creating new metrics, so perhaps agreeing on what counts and what doesn't could be a real challenge. For a climate round, carbon could to be a good metric but maybe it's too traditional and/or limiting 🤷

I just voted in the ongoing @OctantApp epoch! Moving to theme based rounds has been long discussed as a collusion resistance framework. If your project can't participate every round, there's less incentive to game it so, what are my feelings about the climate themed round? an unexpected finding was that i didn't know most of the competing projects so i simply ended up voting for the ones im familiar with. its hard doing due diligence on so many projects! what are some ways to improve theme based rounds to mitigate this issue? 1. Tie it to metrics so that similar to the retro funding round, donors have to choose metrics they care about & it then auto allocates to prpjects so every theme based round MUST be a metrics based retrofunding one 2. Make it outcome based funding so that I don't need to background every organization to make an informed vote i simply select whichever outcomes are cool 3. keep a short 1 minute video on the project page its hard to interpret a wall of text about each project, but i can get a lot from a video embarassing confession here, but when i have to vote in india's parliamentary elections i simply look at the photos of all candidates and go on vibez 🙈 being able to do similar in this round might have expanded my selections to even projects i don't personally know it's also a very boomer thing to only include text, most genz actually prefer seeing a short video overall i love seeing the experimentation and curious to see what the next theme based round is! they can't do these too often since octant would become a less reliable funding partner for projects if they don't have a predictable funding cadence
