Jenn and I have an abandoned bank balance in the state of Washington. Occasionally, I try to use the state's Unclaimed Property website to recover this money: ucp.dor.wa.gov

A month ago, my brother reminded me of this again. They have changed their website again. It is now possible for foreigners to submit a claim by mail. Good riddance, State of Washington.

I admit defeat. *clicks "Claim by mail" option* "In order to claim this package by mail, please create an account in the Department of Revenue system so that we know where to send your cheque."

@radleybalko Oh, wild. I see it if I search for mentions of Bruce's handle, I don't see it in the tweet replies. Another option: eventually consistent data stores and replication processes are struggling. What I see in Ontario may differ from what you see in Tennessee.

The Bruce Fenton response has 75 replies. I can only see four of them. This has been happening often over the last few days. Only seeing a small percentage of replies to certain tweets. Anyone know what’s going on? Seems pretty fast for this to be what Musk is referring to.

@colmmacc Huh, I hadn't realized that 01:59:60 was a valid time. Does that mean my snark about how Google Sheets parses 24:00 is potentially misplaced, too?

One of my favorite leap second bugs is looking for regexes and string parsers that can't handle "01:59:60" as a valid date. Another is when software uses "now() + N-days" to compute an expiry time. So much fun.

@jasonbaumgartne @aurynn runs a small (~150 users) Mastodon in NZ and might have some ideas. @krisnova runs a medium (~6K users) Mastodon in US. Say what you will about Elon’s management style, but before he took over all you guys posted was “ugh another day on this hell site” and now you’re all like “ah twitter the extraordinary place where I met all my best friends, started my career, had sex for the first time”

@ByrneHobart @JonathanShafter Other companies with fully-staffed teams have had long outages: - Facebook: 7 hours - Reddit: 15 hours - Roblox: 72 hours - Atlassian: 14 days (wtf) It's unlikely Twitter goes down. But possible. And if it's an outage that results in a cold start problem, they're in a bad place

@JonathanShafter If I can't log in, tweet, or view my timeline for a week straight, I'll probably leave forever. Maybe I'll become a LinkedIn Influencer instead. So that's "die" from my point of view.

Great risk-reward to posting that Twitter isn't going to die. If you're wrong, where will people post the screenshot to dunk on you?
