@bechamilton @just_security What does it stand for? Perhaps it symbolises a politics of hope that goes beyond utilitarian calculus. Less of a rational policy and more of a bid for a better future that is channelled through int'l criminal law.

I'm really humbled to feature in this fantastic round-up of experts convened by @bechamilton @just_security on the potential of an #ecocide amendment. My take: scholars should not only ask what ecocide can achieve (and for whom), but what it stands for more broadly.

@RalphJanik Most academics (including myself) certainly think that. The crucial question is whether states agree (which is not quite clear – yet!).
