BREAKING: HORRIFYING! West Virginia Republicans introduce a bill to specifically remove rape and incest exceptions for abortions in the state.
The party of Epstein isn't even trying to hide it anymore...
Senate Bill 43 has been introduced in the West Virginia legislature to eliminate the above mentioned exceptions from the West Virginia’s Unborn Child Protection Act, an already-draconian forced birth bill on the books.
If successful, this new measure would bar women from obtaining abortions if they become pregnant after rape or incest. Currently, they can abort the fetus under those criteria within a narrow timeframe, so long as they report it to law enforcement or seek medical care after the incident.
Under this new measure, abortions would only be legal if the fetus is nonviable, if the pregnancy is ectopic, or if a medical emergency arises.
While conservatives will argue that this is about "protecting the sanctity of life," in reality all it does is victimize little girls and rape victims. It singles them out for forced birth, suffering, and a path in life that they did not choose. It's morally repugnant to the core.
The theocratic bill was introduced by MAGA Senator Patricia Rucker of Jefferson County. Clearly, she's hoping to curry favor with the Evangelical radicals, pedophiles, and rapists who make up an alarmingly sizable portion of the Republican base.
The only solution to this pathological desire from Republicans to victimize, repress, and immiserate women is a federal right to abortion. The moment that we retake power we must expand the Supreme Court and enshrine reproductive rights into law. Women and children across this country are counting on us.
