Does it make sense that a bank like Access Bank Plc(@myaccessbank) can watch its customers lose money and do nothing to protect them? A few years ago, my co-founder paid a contractor through Stripe (via our Access Bank-issued VISA card). The contractor admitted he couldn’t deliver, promised a refund, but never paid back. We reported it to the bank and requested a dispute. Shockingly, Access Bank closed the case in favor of the contractor without notifying us. We had no choice but to take them to court — a case still ongoing today, involving over $5,000. Fast forward to now: another issue. This time, with @Facebook Ads, where funds were left in a restricted account. Any U.S. bank would have simply initiated a chargeback to recover the money. Access Bank’s response? “Nothing can be done.” So what exactly is the benefit of using a Nigerian bank if they can’t or won’t protect their customers? From my experience, Access Bank Plc has shown zero accountability. They take customers’ money but accept no responsibility when things go wrong. ⚖️ Nigerian consumers deserve better. Banks must do more than just process payments; they must protect the people who trust them. @FinPlanKaluAja1
