Migraine Explained: The Answers No One Gave You !!!
1️⃣ What exactly is a migraine?
In Ayurveda, migraine is called Ardhavabhedaka — which literally means “pain that splits one side of the head.”
That’s exactly how many people describe it:
A strong, throbbing pain, usually on one side, often with:
Nausea
Sensitivity to light
Irritation
But here’s the important part…
👉 Migraine is not just a headache.
According to Ayurveda, it happens when Vata (movement) and Pitta (heat) go out of balance—especially in the head and nervous system.
Irregular eating, stress, poor sleep, and weak digestion slowly disturb this balance… and the body starts expressing it as migraine.
2️⃣ What usually triggers a migraine?
Most people think migraine just “happens.”
But Ayurveda says—there’s always a reason.
Common triggers include:
Skipping meals
Eating at random times
Too much spicy or sour food
Stress and overthinking
Poor sleep
Too much screen time
Dehydration
Excess tea/coffee
Long gaps between meals
👉 All these increase Vata and Pitta, making your system more sensitive—and that’s when migraine strikes.
3️⃣ Why do I feel like vomiting during a migraine?
This confuses a lot of people.
“Why is my head pain connected to my stomach?”
In Ayurveda, your head and digestion are deeply connected.
When heat (Pitta) and movement (Vata) get disturbed:
It affects the stomach
Digestion becomes unstable
You feel nausea, vomiting, or even loss of appetite
👉 Simply put:
When your digestion is disturbed, the effect travels upward—and shows up as migraine with nausea.
4️⃣ Is migraine related to gut health?
Very much.
Ayurveda strongly believes: 👉
“Most diseases begin in the gut.”
When digestion is weak:
Food is not properly processed
Toxins (Ama) start building up
These toxins circulate and block channels in the body
When these blocks affect the head region → migraine can trigger.
That’s why many migraine patients also have:
Acidity
Bloating
Constipation
Irregular hunger
👉 Fix the gut, and you often reduce the migraine.
5️⃣ What daily habits can prevent migraines?
Ayurveda is very clear here—routine is medicine.
Simple habits can make a big difference:
Eat on time (don’t skip meals)
Avoid long gaps between food
Sleep before 10–10:30 pm
Reduce screen exposure
Stay hydrated
Manage stress
Avoid very spicy, fermented, and processed foods
👉 When your routine becomes stable, your nervous system also becomes stable—and migraine reduces.
6️⃣ Can migraine be cured permanently?
Ayurveda doesn’t believe in just silencing pain again and again.
It focuses on:
Correcting the root cause
Balancing Vata and Pitta
Improving digestion
Clearing toxins
Fixing lifestyle
👉 The goal is not temporary relief…
but to reduce frequency, intensity, and eventually stop recurrence.
Many people experience long-term relief when they work on the root cause instead of only depending on painkillers.
Final Thought
Migraine is not random.
It’s your body asking for balance.
When you understand what your body is trying to say—and respond the right way—things start changing.
