is it a big job to just create an open source chat app that has the same features as discord but uses servers instead that are incredibly cheap or something..? I would literally pay nitro prices for server rental and if it has screenshare and shit I wouldn't care

Starting March, 2026, Discord will require a facial scan or copy of your government issued ID to use 'adult features' on Discord such as participating in stages or viewing Discords and/or channels marked as 18+

@dot_zer I get it, but all it restricts is channels marked as NSFW and stages (whatever that is?) itโs been implemented in the UK since the online safety act started getting implemented. A discord competitor is heavily needed though as theyโre getting away with a lot.
