Have you ever had a relative who stole shit bc they struggled with addiction? I did If my shit went missing, everyone knew who had it. He knew that we knew. But if you confronted him, he’d get really mad, accuse YOU of stealing & try to fight you for “disrespecting” him. Then he’d help you look for the thing HE STOLE. After they do it so many times, you eventually realize that you have to hide your shit when your cousin comes around. You KNOW he has an addiction problem, so if you get got, you don’t even confront him. You just chalk it up as a loss because if you complain, your grandmother will say “you can’t choose your family.” And you wanna say “I don’t smoke crack either, yet here we are.” Also, you don’t wanna get smacked in the mouth So when other people come over, you have to warn them that there’s a real possibility that their shit might get stolen by your crack-smoking cousin and that he’s gonna lie about it but he’s also gonna want to fight.
