It’s dry out there. And it doesn’t take much. Take a look at this fire from last night along 6th Avenue. From the air, it looks bigger that it really was- about one acre. But one acre with potential. The potential to move toward fence lines and homes. 🔥 Crews kept it small with quick work. Unlike 80 - 90% of all wildfires, this wasn't human-caused. It started when a malfunctioning electrical box on a lighted highway sign dropped sparks into the dry grass below. That’s it. That’s all it takes right now. Stay aware. Stay ready. And don’t underestimate how fast things can go from nothing… to this. 🔥🚒 #westmetrofirerescue

SCOOP: @TulsiGabbard’s political staff expect that she is about to RESIGN, following the resignation of her colleague @joekent16jan19. This comes after two days of her testimony in front of Congress this week where she never once expressed support for President Trump or his decisions. Instead, she used her time during the hearings to affirm President Trump’s right to make decisions as President of the United States, making it clear she doesn’t support those decisions. Despite what she is telling the White House, one of her closest advisors anticipates her resignation is coming soon. President Trump should not allow Gabbard the dignity of a resignation, followed by her immediately trashing him on MSDNC, CNN, the View, and Tucker Carlson’s podcast. @SusieWiles @DanScavino @MarcoRubio

Oh my gosh. @CBSNewsRadio is being shuttered and all CBS News Radio anchors are being let go. I spent the last few years as a local CBS radio affiliate anchor, and tossed to these amazing journalists, so many of whom I admired. This is devastating.
Brian Stelter@brianstelter

A second memo from Bari Weiss and Tom Cibrowski says CBS News Radio is shutting down. Here's the memo: Today, we informed our CBS News Radio team and approximately 700 affiliated stations that we will end the service on May 22, 2026. Unfortunately, this decision means that all positions within the CBS News Radio team are being eliminated.  We understand how difficult this news is for our staff and their colleagues, who have worked side by side with us to cover some of the most significant stories of our time. While this was a necessary decision, it was not an easy one.  A shift in radio station programming strategies, coupled with challenging economic realities, has made it impossible to continue the service.  We are sharing this announcement now to fulfill our commitments to our radio partners and affiliates, which require advance notice of the service’s conclusion. For nearly 100 years, CBS News Radio has delivered original reporting to the nation—from Edward R. Murrow’s World War II reports in London to today’s daily White House updates.  Our signature broadcast, “World News Roundup,” remains the longest-running newscast in the country.  CBS News Radio served as the foundation for everything we have built since 1927. The coming weeks will be difficult for the team members who have worked tirelessly at CBS News Radio.  We are committed to supporting these valued colleagues with care and respect as we wind down operations.  They have been critical to our success and remain treasured friends and professionals.  We thank them deeply for their contributions. Thank you all for your dedication and for the compassion you show one another as we move forward. Bari and Tom

Dismayed that the head of the @WashingtonPost comms team would post so disparagingly about our laid-off colleagues. There is so much solidarity and respect among and between those who remained and those who were cut. This is the opposite.

👀Overheard in our newsroom just now: I'm so over formers continuing to write our "obituary" (air quote) when I can turn on TV, check any news channel and see us and our reporting. Case in point. (points to nearby TV with MS NOW showing last night's drone scoop)

FITZPATRICK & SUOZZI planning to intro a bipartisan proposal to end the DHS shutdown Full funding at previously agreed upon levels + ICE reforms including on body cameras, training, entering sensitive locations, on-officer identification & independent investigations It would prevent ICE agents from wearing masks but also crack down on doxxing & would require judicial warrants for criminal arrests - attempting compromise on key sticking points in talks

THUNE says the Senate could cancel upcoming recess if DHS is still shut down - a sign talks could be heating up Thune adds that HOMAN meeting w/ bipartisan group of senators right now is a positive sign: “We’ve been encouraging this for a while and I'm glad to see both sides sitting down. And having Homan up here being a part of that is I think a pretty big deal and recognition that we need to get this resolved.”

Denmark prepared for a possible U.S. attack: Flew blood supplies to Greenland and planned to blow up runways Key sources in Denmark and Europe are now revealing for the first time what happened during the most critical days, when Donald Trump threatened to take Greenland “the hard way.” When Danish soldiers were rapidly deployed to Greenland in January this year, they brought explosives with them. The plan was to destroy runways in Nuuk and Kangerlussuaq to prevent American military aircraft from landing troops on the island, should the U.S. president ultimately decide to seize Greenland by force. They also transported blood supplies from Danish blood banks so wounded personnel could be treated in case of combat. This is reported by DR, which over the past year has spoken with central sources in the Danish government, top military officers, and high-ranking officials and intelligence sources in Denmark, France, and Germany. All sources have played—and continue to play—key roles in the international crisis triggered by the United States’ demand for control over Greenland. Together, the sources describe an unprecedented year marked by sleepless nights. None of them had concrete intelligence of specific American attack plans against Greenland. Still, many feared in January that the historically important ally, the United States, could attack at any moment. At the same time, Denmark reached out to its European allies, leading to closer cooperation. “With the Greenland crisis, Europe realized once and for all that we must be able to handle our own security,” said a French senior official involved in the intense period. A rapid-response force consisting of Danish, French, German, Norwegian, and Swedish soldiers was first deployed to Nuuk and Kangerlussuaq. Shortly after, a main force followed, including: -Soldiers from the Danish Dragoon Regiment in Holstebro -Elite troops from the Jaeger Corps -French alpine troops trained for cold and mountainous warfare At the same time, Danish fighter jets and a French naval vessel were sent to the North Atlantic. According to several sources, the goal of having multinational troops on the ground was to ensure that any U.S. attempt to take Greenland would require a large-scale hostile action—thereby deterring such an attempt. “We have not been in such a situation since April 1940,” said a Danish defense source, referring to the days before Denmark’s occupation during World War II. Unlike in 1940, when Denmark chose not to resist militarily, the government and defense leadership this time decided—after extensive confidential discussions—to take the opposite approach: If the U.S. attempted an attack, Danish forces would be armed and ready to fight. Danish F-35 fighter jets deployed north were also fully armed. All this despite the understanding that Denmark could not realistically withstand a U.S. military attack. “The cost for the U.S. had to be raised. The U.S. would have to carry out a hostile act to take Greenland,” said a senior Danish defense source. Source: DR

U.S. and Israeli officials have for weeks now been saying how closely coordinated the military campaign has been. It took weeks to coordinate, they’ve said. They talk constantly, they’ve said. But now, suddenly and confusingly, it is not? Trump says Israel struck SP alone…
