@eversmann_ @MominISheikh I do agree it was a brilliant goal. They beat the entire Argentine defense but then perhaps IFAB needs to rewrite the rules. This rule wasn't written just to help Argentina win

@MominISheikh @karishmaAli22 some more context and understanding behind why such “fouls” get overlooked all the time. but since VAR has turned into a strategic management tool in favour of Argentina, the line between controversial decisions and outright favouritism has been eroded.

@MominISheikh @karishmaAli22 The whole point is the selective application of VAR which always benefit Argentina. It has become a pattern. For example there was no VAR review of this tackle by Messi in the Algeria match because it could have warranted a straight red card.

@MominISheikh @karishmaAli22 1. This “foul” could easily have been overlooked on any given day but since it involved Argentina so it wasn’t, Austria from group stage match for example.
2. Egypt go 3-0 up and match is over.

2. Egypt did still score after that going 2 up. They still managed to lose composure and conceded 3 while going 2 up

@karishmaAli22 And the fact that if Argentina had benefited from this goal the ref would not have disallowed it. We saw this earlier in the Argentina Austria match. The selective application of VAR has eroded trust in the sport. We cannot hide this scandal behind football analysis.

@eversmann_ That was a beautiful goal. I was supporting Egypt too but rules are rules. VAR also overturned a goal after it was scored in Egypt vs Iran so this isn’t the first time it has happened. Yes the debate about how long it took for the call is another thing.
But 3 goals in 15 mins!

@MominISheikh They do, yes. personally I don't care about these things,but I do want to shit on FIFA.& Messi is getting stick for a reason.Let's not pretend he hasn't benefited from refereeing decisions since 2022 WC. One or two calls might make sense, but it is starting to look like a pattern
