But imo if the team knew something was wrong & knew Ilya & Shane are together, I think they would reach out to S & confide in him.

On one hand I understand this take but at the same time it also makes no sense because Shane doesn’t have a reputation of being a dick. He’s known as the good boy of the league, the one that sponsors and reporters and PR loves cause he’s just that “nice” guy.

@CherryPunzel They'd have no reason to be wary of him because as you said, they dont know him personally, and what they do know is that he was a good captain, brilliant player, maybe a bit of a square. He's shown no particular behavioural issues that would make it hard to gel in the team

@CherryPunzel If there's any wariness, it would be (as ive seen in a couple of fics), that the team saw ilya depressed as all hell that first year, and knowing shane was his partner through that, they'd wonder if shane was trying to help. But even then, long distance answers that pretty quick
