As usual SOP, on its maiden flight (video here, dated from March 1969) the Concorde test crew were conservative: the jet´s speed never exceeded 300 MPH, and the max altitude was 10,000 ft. Its first Supersonic flight was over one year later, OTD in 1970.

@shiv_cybersurg @CcibChris Photo was specifically staged. Wasn’t a regular take off. I suspect it was a low pass without landing and they’ve raised the nose once starting the climb to look better in the photo.

@sam_golf Hi Sam. I was an engineer for 28 years. Apprentice when I was 16. Went to uni age 30. Got my degree. Age 44 went back to uni again and post grad in education. I’m now a high school teacher. You’re never too old to learn!
