@NatureofHistory @AugustinaJJD @MLJHaynes @MurrayRundus Nope- just had my first daughter, and things have been a little crazy around my house as you might imagine lol And, since you still got my point about the reincarnation thing, I will tell you that no, reincarnation is antithetical to Christ and his teachings

@gate_captain @AugustinaJJD @MLJHaynes @MurrayRundus Oops - cat walk on your keyboard? 😂 Mystics from many religions agree on certain principles: universal consciousness; reincarnation; the yin/yang of love/fear. ✝️ mystics add Christ, who came to teach us how to live as he did & show us we contain God's spark of creation.

JUST IN: Pope Leo XIV responds to Cardinal Marx — Says Vatican does not approve blessing of same sex couples. Adds a blessing can be given to “all people” like at the end of Mass. Leo states—— “First of all, I believe it is very important to understand that the unity or division of the Church should not revolve around sexual issues. We tend to think that when the Church speaks of morality, the only moral issue is a sexual one. In reality, I believe there are much larger and more important issues—such as justice, equality, the freedom of men and women, and religious freedom—that should take priority over that particular issue. The Holy See has already spoken with the German bishops. The Holy See has made it clear that we do not agree with the formal blessing of couples—in this case, same-sex couples, as you requested—or of couples in irregular situations, beyond what Pope Francis has specifically permitted by saying that all people should receive the blessing. When a priest gives the blessing at the end of Mass, when the Pope gives the blessing at the end of a great celebration like the one we had today, there are blessings for all people. Francis’s famous expression, “everyone, everyone, everyone,” expresses the Church’s conviction that everyone is welcomed, everyone is invited, everyone is invited to follow Jesus, and everyone is invited to seek conversion in their own lives. To go beyond this today, I believe, could cause more disunity than unity, and that we should seek to build our unity on Jesus Christ and on what Jesus Christ teaches. This is my answer to the question.

@gate_captain @AugustinaJJD @MLJHaynes @MurrayRundus Yeah, to return means to reincarnate. Let's look at John ch 9.⬇️ The people realize the blind man could have sinned *before* birth - i.e., in a past life. Otherwise, when could a man blind SINCE BIRTH have sinned, if not in a past life? Many more passages acknowledge this belief.

@NatureofHistory @AugustinaJJD @MLJHaynes @MurrayRundus To address your claim that reincarnation was a wildely held belief: An estute reader might notice that every passage you listed refers to Elijah- a Jewish prophet who famously was assumed into heaven and was prophesied to return before the coming of the Messiah (Malachi 4:5–6)

@exRhenum @A177AR @deusimpera You are allowed to disagree and go all in on Massa Damnata, but that is not church teaching and it is just your opinion. Much like his assertion that the Holy Spirit inspires people in non-Catholic societies to a useful form of faith, is an opinion and not binding

@exRhenum @A177AR @deusimpera I am not missing the point- Your assertion is that the Holy Spirit would never work through or for any belief besides the Catholic faith, because they are inherently evil and pagan. That is disputed Logoi Spermtakoi, which us the viewpoint he is speaking from in that quote.

If you’re a Christian apologist who criticizes Islam but doesn’t hold Judaism to the same standard, you’re simply a joke. Either have the courage to criticize both or don’t.

@exRhenum @A177AR @deusimpera Brother the entire body of Truth we have has been revealed to us over time. God is Truth and exists outside of time, but our temporal existence does not lend itself to such words as "Old" testament, "New" Testament, "New Covenant"

@exRhenum @A177AR @deusimpera All that to say, I don't think JP2's usage of "new" is some kind of crypto-subversive statement, but rather, another tie in to the theme of his speech: Jesus Christ the Messiah has established a New Truth about man's place in the Divine Mystery

@gate_captain @A177AR @deusimpera That's not my position, at all. Muslims don't have any faith. They can't, and that's the point. And their belief in their false religion isn't inspired by the Holy Spirit, which is what John Paul 2 explicitly taught.

@exRhenum @A177AR @deusimpera Your position on the Holy Spirit seems to be that those who don't already beileve in the Triune God are immune to It. How is possible that the True Faith has spread to the extent it has without (erroneously) chalking it up to the work of men alone?

@gate_captain @A177AR @deusimpera He was literally blaspheming the Holy Spirit. You shouldn't defend that, ever. Muslims are demonic pagans who have zero faith, and they certainly don't fear God, since they don't even believe in Him.

@exRhenum @A177AR @deusimpera Re: His speech, and the new truth The way I understand the speech- The "old truth" in Genesis is that man has been created by God in his image The "new truth" is that Jesus, the only begotten son of God, through his life and sacrifice, has confirmed us as coheirs, not equals

@exRhenum @A177AR @deusimpera Re: JP2's alleged apostacy I think he is speaking to that very thing- a devout Muslim who fears God and acts accordingly is more open to the moving of the Holy Spirit than an agnostic who believes in nothing but themselves. He doesn't say anything about salvation or grace

@JeffreyHelsdon @Hanz13280 @MLJHaynes I do appreciate the quick rebuttal of this error, this bad-faith protestant does have a point about Pope Leo's unfortunate choice or words. It (sadly) appears to me that he balances out this "uncomfortable" dogma by reaffirming liberal buzzwords in the same breath.

@NatureofHistory @MLJHaynes @MurrayRundus Sexual sin produces 800,000 unwanted children per year who are murdered while living in their mothers. If you don't love them and fight for their lives, you can't possibly claim to love your neighbor.

@exRhenum @A177AR @deusimpera Idk if you have a link to the speech or not, but to the best of my understanding, an emdash denotes an abrupt pause or change of topic. Which, in this case appears clearly (to me) as a call back to the Peter quote (Mt. 16:16) which he is using as the basis of his homily.

@exRhenum @A177AR @deusimpera There are a number of things I would like to address in this post, but let's start with your claim that JP2 claimed that "every man is God" What your basis for that?

The Church goes by the external forum so it doesn't matter what's "on his heart" A common misconception is that he first needs to "teach his heresies ex cathedra", there are many things wrong with this however; 1. It's literally impossible for a valid Pope to teach heresy ex cathedra. 2. He doesn't need to attempt to do so to become a manifest heretic/apostate. If he were to obstinately deny a basic truth of faith publicly (in, let's say, an interview) he'd cease to be a Christian automatically. That should be common sense. Lastly, there are a lot of things which have directly implicated these antipopes. Some of JP2's heresies/apostasy include(s); - Teaching that the Holy Spirit inspires belief in false religions - Teaching that every man is God - Teaching that non-Christians can be saved - Organizing public idolatry - Actively taking part in public idolatry

@exRhenum @A177AR @deusimpera After all, you are only in a position to describe the behavior as scandalous, since you don't know what is on his heart. He has not made any claims in an ex-cathedra capacity that constitute hersey, and nothing in his behavior is inherently indicating apostasy or incredulity.

@exRhenum @A177AR @deusimpera Thank you brother- I certainly will have her baptized shortly. Also, I did some reading on the external forum, and while I agree with what you are implying via St. Bellermine's quote in theory, but I think that you are being a bit extreme in your application of the law
