The sad reality is that the vast majority will never attend A-Leagues women's games. Despite screaming about women's sport. That's the challenge for football here, getting Matilda's fans to support the national competition.

1. ellie wasn’t looking at 16 when they were both on the turn. 2. you can clearly see ellies hand is open during the whole gif clearly showing she didn’t “pull hair” 3. 16 faked the head injury when ellie hardly touched her 👍🏻

Think the most frustrating thing about the match, aside from not topping the group, was Montemurro’s lack of proactive subs especially since one was a concussion sub

@matildas_magic Joe said there was a problem with the concussion sub not being recorded properly. By the time they were approved another sub it was too late

why did we sub in so late? honestly, you could see the girls exhausted. kyra should have come on at half time. sayer should have started. and why was heyman not subbed in knowing how she is with late goals. plus we needed more speed but yet we kept holly on the bench... #AUSvKOR

@AronCCM All of the reasons mentioned plus they would have an unfair advantage. AL clubs are limited to playing U23 teams for this reason

Im sure theres someone smarter then me that knows a reason for this. But why dont A-League clubs keep their womens players and play them in the NPL in the off season instead of letting them go to other clubs? Would also improve team chem and help with promotion chances.

Let’s hope the @OFCProLeague offer 🆓 entry on FRI to any supporter who paid today. Clearly after two washout events at the other hubs/circuits, there was no backup process in place to deal with paying patrons (in the event of cancellation). Also, the fact @footballvic’s Home of the Matildas facility cannot deal with 1 hour of significant downpour from 4 hours prior, with no appropriate machinery to expedite preparing the pitch, proves once & for all it is no better than a suburban ⚽️ facility. What sort of inadequate drainage system was installed on the main pitch? Just ask 17-year-old Poppy O'Keefe, Melbourne Victory's 17-year-old who will create history in the NPL this weekend in the club's first ever women's game. Poppy has come through the ranks since she was 14; a headline in this historic squad, as the kid who came all the way through the ranks. From Wangaratta, where most of her friends follow netball - "they know this is pretty big" - became too much, so her mum and sister moved to Melbourne to support her Victory career, while dad and her two brothers hold the fort in Wangaratta. Sad about Rasmussen leaving, but at least we got a club record fee for her
