Appointment scheduling works in every other industry. Restaurants: OpenTable Doctors: ZocDoc Haircuts: Booksy Oil changes: Valvoline Instant Oil Change Grain elevators: "Just show up and wait" This is the problem we're solving.

Week 1 at Cultivator. Six months from Facebook post to agtech accelerator. The elevator wait time problem resonated faster than expected. Next: building the solution that farmers actually want.

Talked to a custom trucker who hauls for three different farms. He keeps a note on his phones of average wait times at every elevator within 200 km. Farmers are already collecting this data. Just not digitally. And not where anyone else can see it.

Stats Canada says farmers are planting more canola, less wheat this year. Lentils and peas down too. Every crop shift changes the delivery pattern at the elevator. Some facilities won't know how until trucks start showing up. hubs.la/Q047Qtsb0

"They're coming five hours one way. They don't want to get scheduled. They do when they've got a wait." End-user facility operator describing the long-haul trucker dilemma. Distance changes everything about scheduling preferences. #GrainLogistics

Pattern I keep seeing: facilities have digital systems but still use whiteboards for day-of scheduling. Why? Because the digital systems don't handle the chaos of actual delivery day. The whiteboard works. It just doesn't scale.

Farmer feedback on our scheduling system: "It's not about the technology. It's about respect for my time." This is why we built real-time updates, accurate ETAs, and transparent queue positions. Technology serves farmers, not the other way around.

Appointment at 10. Arrived at 9:55. Waited 2 hours. This Facebook post from a farmer friend sparked GrainFlow. Every elevator operator I tell this story to nods immediately. They know exactly what happened. #GrainFlow

Look closely: one bay’s trendline climbs all day long. That’s one of the things that GrainFlow flags in real time...early signs of slowdown you might not catch from the ground. Fix small problems earlier. Stay at max capacity longer. Move more grain. You get the picture.

You’ve known me in ag for a while. This year I’m focused on something new. GrainFlow helps elevators, truckers, and farmers move together with less waiting and more predictability. It’s all about flow.

🚜📊 One of the best compliments we’ve received so far: “You are the first person I have ever pulled out of the junk folder because I do think this is an important item. From December through February I spend more time talking about this than any other topic.”

@JanetteJoyB You could make an argument for BASF, but the disruption being [the end] of World War II and allied forces accessing the technology of the Haber-Bosch process - Alchemy of Air is a great book.

If you look at the last 100 years of agriculture, what's 1 example of a dominant company being disrupted like Blockbuster or Kodak?

Never thought of this, but it makes sense. Increased SOM at soil surface layer, ⬆️ water storage @ surface, ⬆️ evaporation losses of water. So, deeper increases of SOM are better for water storage, especially in sandy soils. Open access. acsess.onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/full/10.10…
