@SamSmith2049 thank you! that’s exactly what I was going for :)

Monocle 3.5 is out

Btw, I hid an easter egg on the website for 50% OFF on the license

@hermittoday thank you @hermittoday, let me know how it holds up for you in a long term

re: single windows. this is a fantastic macOS app

name a prettier way to focus on mac. monocle 3.1 lands monday. app groups + stage manager + a lot more.
English

I agree, and if I may add to that, here are some other ways of using the computer that feel great and invite a focused, creamy, creative headspace, at least for me:
- only 1 display at a time
- only 1 window open at a time¹
- mastery over tools (e.g. touch typing, learning keyboard shortcuts)
- Airplane Mode for Mac (airplanemac.carrd.co)
- mechanical keyboards (because tactile feedback invites intentional interactions)
¹ notice that when Steve Jobs presented the Macintosh it was also running single windows. maybe it’s a coincidence, or maybe Stevie was sensitive to how different UIs made him feel

airplane mode is a spiritual practice

@vladzima may I try to contribute a little? x.com/heyiamdk/statu…

@austnstuff @colderoshay please share your thoughts with me once you try it out
English

@heyiamdk @colderoshay Such a great concept, looking forward to trying out this update
English

thanks so much! agreed the 3.5 update makes it blend more naturally with one's daily workflow!
re app groups - yeah, app groups open the Application folder but you can navigate wherever you want to find your apps - or even quicker - simply search for Finder there.
it's just an initial version for this feature, I'll explore new UX patterns to create app groups on the go without needing to open settings at all. Something as simple as shift-clicking two windows to group them (not that exact interaction, since it'd clash with the system default, but you get the idea)

English

Stage manager + unblur when dragging a file, and app- wide focus, make this update so good! It has come so far since the first version.
Though I think the only way to add an app group is to open and select the apps in the Application folder? Because I want to pair Finder and other apps and can't find a way to do that.
English

@heyiamdk Great software for real! Btw the font in the email is beautiful, what font is that?
English

@YayaSoumah thanks!
and not really. the intended use case is actually without Stage Manager, but I wanted to cover both scenarios so I added support for it in 3.5. personally I use it without :)
English

@heyiamdk Just purchased, looks very polished, I suppose this works better with stage manager right? Coming from someone that would always go with full window
English

just so you know - you can achieve the same plain overlay look HazeOver has in Monocle too, just disable the blur and use color tint only.
Pricing: $14 for a single license, $25 for 3 - and as mentioned above, there's a 50% off easter egg hidden on the website, so $7 and $12.50 with the discount applied 🙂
English

@heyiamdk Thank you. Because I have hazeover. And I want to know if your app is better I get it. May I know the price please?
English

Must have been so much fun to explore this at Apple. I'm absolutely loving working on this. So unhealthily obsessed with blurs recently!
tuhin@tuhin
Hah! We had so many explores of this kind of ‘focused windowing’ when designing Stage Manager on macOS. Very cool that someone made this real!
English

@heyiamdk being able to control the size of the blast radius of the blur would be next level, i love what you're doing, thanks for making this a thing
English

@ducaswtf thanks Igor, glad the new settings feel like an upgrade, a lot of work went into that :)
English

@knowhere_norbu Haha that's the spirit 😄 Really glad you like the site, thanks!
English

@heyiamdk i was excited when you raised the prices!
honestly you could mark it up even higher...
but i did use the easter egg......the website is super cool!
English

@eschadiol thanks!!
that's exactly in my backlog, can't wait to experiment with this mode!
English

@heyiamdk you killed it! never used stage manager before but you made it compelling to try.
i realize the blur is just a left to right gradient but it tends to feel like a gradient blur behind the window, makes me wish we had a mode that blurred the area around the window only
