Today, our Chief Fire Officer Dave Russel received the King’s Fire Service Medal at an event at Windsor Castle led by The Prince of Wales. Dave was awarded The King’s Fire Service Medal in the New Year's Honours and the award is the highest honour that fire service personnel can obtain. It is testament to his dedication to fire and rescue services and public safety, with over 30 years service for us and Lancashire and we're incredibly proud of him.

My dad passed away this afternoon. It wasn’t unexpected & I saw him y/day where he smiled when I told him all the family news. But it’s still heartbreaking to see the man who has been a constant in your life, lying lifeless. A proud @RoyalMarines for all his 96 years. RIP Dad❤️

This week I face the most difficulty day of my life so far. I am not sure if I have got this and feel extremely vulnerable. I am wonder if there is some PPE or body armour that will help me? On Wednesday I meet my brother for the very first time, he was given up at birth.

Thankfully these incidents don’t happen too often. Although low frequency they unfortunately can be high consequence and require many organisations to come together rapidly and in harmony. Worth considering if this CPD event would help boost your organisation’s preparedness..

Well my last day with Lancs Fire today, blown away with all the kind words and gifts, but this one from the young lady who I pulled from a cot in a bedroom fire in 1997 is why the fire service is a great place to be😀

31 years ago today I joined Lancashire County Fire Brigade. Having spent 29 years there @lancashirefire will always be a special place. However…2 years in…I can genuinely say, I’ve found my new home at GM🚒 and it’s an honour and a privilege to be part of it @manchesterfire
