@FrMatthewLC @ryanburge Catholics derive their headcounts from parish/diocesan baptismal records plus new converts (Adult converts represent a fraction of the number of those who walk away.) Nobody knows how many Catholics there are, much less practicing Catholics. But it's a lot fewer than advertised.

The decline of the Methodists really was a big blow to America.

The US Census has never asked about religion, but the 1870 Census did collect data on "religious organizations." Here's a map showing the religious group with the most organizations by state. At this point, Methodism (purple) was the dominant religious group.

@ilwarblers @souljagoyteller The Democrats had to change after getting crushed three times in the 80s and since Clinton’s election in 1992 the democrats have only lost the popular vote 3 times. If they stuck to the old new deal policies they would’ve kept getting crushed by republicans.

If a Dem governor personally ordered the execution of a mentally impaired inmate against the protestations of his friend, his pastor, civil rights leaders, and even the prison’s warden himself, just out of political expediency, I don’t think they’d win the election.

As a lifelong black woman, I didn’t know what to make of Charlie Kirk. I’ve since spent several lunch breaks watching his debates (FULL videos) and have come away with the impression that we got him all wrong. The reaction from those on my side of the aisle have really made me rethink whether we’re on the right side of history.

Just watched Superbad for the first time. Beyond the (very fun) scenes with Seth Rogen and Bill Hader, I found the movie mid at best. Jonah Hill in this movie is unbearable
