@rosenz @inside Well, the analysts in whom I believe think that $6 billion was an *overall* figure for the initial slate of content, not an annual figure, but it still doesn’t cover it yet.

@insideAAPL @inside I see your point. They spent $6B year 1. At $5x12 it would take 100M subs to cover that. They have 34M subs now. HBO has 140M, so it is possible. But if it boosts iPhone sales by just 0.5% (to get a free year) that's 100K units at $500 profit each, for $50M extra revenue. Maybe?

@rosenz @inside Believe me, I’m hooked, too! My question is not whether these shows deserve to exist for the people who want to watch them. I don’t even want Apple to ask that question. But how does Apple know this is worth doing? Or do they even care if it’s worth doing in a P&L sense?

@insideAAPL @inside (Re: #7) Lots of people like me are now hooked on shows like For All Mankind, See, Mythic Quest, etc, watching for free now. When season 2 of these shows comes around, we'll happily pay $5/month to keep watching. I pay 3X that for HBO and watch fewer shows there.
