MURDERED TWICE: FIRST BY FATHER, THEN BY THE CORRUPT SYSYEM 23 year old Chowdeshwari from Macharla, Palnadu district in Andhra Pradesh married Nagaraju against the wishes of the family. She rejected the wealthy groom her father got. Weeks after the marriage, her father Chandrashekar called her home and killed her with the help of her cousin by sitting on her chest and asphyxiating her. Her death was recorded as suspicious and the body was sent to postmortem. During postmortem the truth came out. BUT father used his money to silence the system. He bought off the investigating officer CI Venkataraman. Even after the post-mortem report clearly stated the cause of the death, CI registered the case as suspicious death. After multiple complaints to senior officials that CI took huge bribes, CI Venkataramana was suspended. Apparently CI Venkataramana a tainted officer and is highly corrupt. But what baffles me is how the system is rigged to silence women, even in death. Someone decided to fight in Chowdeshwari’s case, else the truth would have been cremated with her forever.
