After arriving to Prešov, they even checked in on us, bringing us a care package with over-the-counter medicines, water, juice, snacks, toiletries and more. Thank you Martin and Romana, at Tatra Bank, you were angels. This day we took a break from our incessant planning.

Thursday Feb 24. We woke up in our apartment in Kyiv, with the sound of an explosion. We had already been on edge due to the encirclement of Ukraine by russian troops. We checked our phones to find Putin mid-speech, telling the world he would start a “special operation”. Asshole.

Absolutely freezing in Vysne Nemecké. Not enough tents, some are too cold anyway. We run out of food, lots of stress and High emotions outside of buses as not all the People can get on. Really poor response from Slovakia’s institutions
