Yes, it's largely true. Johann Nikolaus Forkel—Bach's first biographer and a key "Bach scholar"—wrote in 1802 that Vivaldi's violin concertos gave Bach crucial guidance in composing. This Bach-Vivaldi link (Bach had transcribed several Vivaldi works) sparked early 19th-century interest among Bach experts, helping pull Vivaldi's music out of obscurity after his 1741 death. The full 20th-century revival (via 1926 Turin manuscript finds) built on that foundation. Without it, Vivaldi might've stayed largely forgotten.

One of my biggest regrets in life is that I'll likely never have the talent to play the violin to this level.
Not because 'I can't do it', but because it's just not a priority in my life to master the violin.
I wish I could play this piece. In the height of my work and in the midst of my sorrow, I wish I could retreat into Bach like this..
