New York is a melting pot of Blackness. You have foundationals, Caribbeans, Africans, Afro-Latinos, all sharing an emerging, pan-Black New York culture. The Black experience in the south and midwest is not like this at all.

The Supreme Court has reiterated that the 14th Amendment is proof that FBA history is not some side note. It is central to American citizenship itself. If you were born here and claim citizenship by birth, you are benefiting from a legal framework created because of Foundational Black Americans.
