@Markzandi @NewsLambert Hi Dr. Zandi. What source(s) are you using that shows home equity borrowing all but stopping? I agree that traditional refis on firsts are near zero, but helocs and heloans are still popular, no?

Mortgage equity withdrawal - when households borrow against their homes - has also all but stopped. Less inflation, tighter underwriting, and higher mortgage rates, which have put the kibosh on housing transactions, cash-out refis and home equity borrowing, are contributing.

Concern that Americans are taking on too much debt, posing a threat to the economy, is misplaced. Total debt is up only 3.5% in the year ending in August according to Moody’s data based on Equifax credit files. And the ratio of debt-to-income is low & stable, as is debt service.

Over 5 years ago, my boss and dear friend died of complications of stress and overwork. 5 years later, I see daily messaging from many data and community influencers to monetize my free time (LOL that’s funny) and to be posting every day on multiple platforms to be noticed.

I’m beyond heartbroken. 💔 Yesterday we said goodbye to our 16.5 y/o #puggle, Bentley. I’ve never felt a pain like this. He was our first baby and my husband and I haven’t known life together w/o him. Today I’ll be working alone without him by my side for the 1st time in 4 yrs. 😞
