@kavitar @emilybell @TowCenter Of course, but smaller scale makes it easier to control and vet. Always find the "humans make mistakes" line a bit tricky. Doesn't necessarily mean you should build in even more fragile processes or features

Great point by @chrismoranuk at our @TowCenter / Newmark Center event AI in the Newsroom - If you put a chatbot onto your content, you are basically committing to publishing a lot of material that you have no idea what it is. A huge shift from our current model of publishing

@chrismoranuk @emilybell @TowCenter It’s hard to quality control & vet all journalist produced content before publication too! Humans can also make mistakes !!

@emilybell @kavitar @TowCenter Yep - guardrails and the use case are massive factors in reliability here as much as technical approach. TBC I’m not saying it will always be unreliable, or always has to be right now but it involves careful thought and framing

@emilybell @chrismoranuk @TowCenter Information was once controlled by the church, broadcasting has changed from one to many to many 2 many, this is the next step. Maybe it gives publishers a chance to reach and get their walled gardens of content out to many more people?

@kavitar @chrismoranuk @TowCenter V good point, the broader (philosophical) question is does a publisher need to *know* everything they are publishing? . If your climate chat bot gets 10000 questions or chats and answers each differently you have to put a high degree of trust in the AI

A truth foretold

My fellow Democrats, I have decided not to accept the nomination and to focus all my energies on my duties as President for the remainder of my term. My very first decision as the party nominee in 2020 was to pick Kamala Harris as my Vice President. And it’s been the best decision I’ve made. Today I want to offer my full support and endorsement for Kamala to be the nominee of our party this year. Democrats — it’s time to come together and beat Trump. Let’s do this.
