Now this is some Knicks news I can get behind
Shams Charania@ShamsCharania
New York guard Jose Alvarado is declining his $4.5 million player option and intends to sign a new three-year, $14-plus million deal to return to the Knicks, sources tell ESPN. Knicks made it a priority to retain the NY native who played key role on a historic championship team.

🚨🇯🇵 Hajime Moriyasu on facing Brazil:
🗣️"From the moment our match against Sweden ended, our attention shifted completely to Brazil. We know the quality they possess. They're one of the greatest football nations in history, with world-class players capable of deciding a match in seconds. We have nothing but respect for them.
But Japan is no longer a team that simply participates, we compete. We didn't come this far to admire Brazil or exchange shirts. We're going there to go toe-to-toe with them and fight for a place in the next round.
We believe in our football, our discipline, and our unity. If we perform at our best, we know we can beat anyone. Our objective is clear: we're going there to win.
At the end of the day, football is unpredictable. Whatever the result may be, we'll accept it with dignity. But one thing is certain, we'll leave everything on that pitch, and Brazil will know they've been in a battle with Japan."

Bit of a predicament for the Socceroos now. Popa throwing away that game against the USA is going to come back to bite us.
As it stands, we are facing Iran in the R32 if we manage to avoid defeat against Paraguay. If we do lose though we will be facing Germany instead.
But, the reality is that we'll be facing Belgium instead of Iran if we finish 2nd because the likelihood of Belgium beating NZ by more goals than Iran beat Egypt is very high
Either way, I think it's safe to say either Germany or Belgium await us in the R32. With Argentina in the R16 likely if we somehow beat Belgium.
Meanwhile USA get an absolute gift of a run all the way to the semis. Popa has literally thrown away any chance of us going somewhat deep in this tournament with that starting 11 vs USA. Sackable offence.

Yaxel Lendeborg on playing with Steph: "It's a full-circle moment for me. In 2016, I'm a big Kyrie guy, so I used to hate Steph Curry."

🚨Japan head coach Hajime Moriyasu was asked why many countries still view Japan as underdogs and how that perception has motivated his team after their dominant 4–0 victory over Tunisia.
🎙️ Reporter: “Coach Moriyasu, despite Japan’s recent performances, many people still consider your team underdogs. Why do you think that is, and has it motivated your players during this World Cup?”
🗣️ Hajime Moriyasu: “I understand why some people still see Japan that way because football has traditionally been dominated by nations with long histories of winning major tournaments.
“We respect those countries and everything they have achieved, but we don’t focus too much on labels like ‘underdogs’ or ‘favourites.’
“If people underestimate us, that is their choice. For us, it becomes extra motivation.
“Our players work incredibly hard every day, and they are proud to represent Japan. They want to show the world that Japanese football belongs at the highest level.
“What has driven this team throughout the tournament is not proving people wrong—it is proving ourselves right.
“We know our quality. We trust our preparation, our style of play, and the values that define us as a team.
“The players have shown great discipline, courage, and humility. They fight for each other in every moment, and that unity is our greatest strength.
“A 4–0 victory does not change our mentality. We remain humble, we continue to improve, and we keep our focus on the next challenge.
“If other teams still see us as underdogs, that is fine. We will continue to let our football do the talking.
