The CLLN met across Zoom today & I shared videos with my teaching w/a 2nd grade Writing Aloud intervention as we collaborate to bring theory into practice. We've patiently awaited publication of this book...one of Linda's final gifts to children and teachers.

A7 I think we’d be amazed by the sheer number of children who end up in interventions who would never have been there if we’d had a strong foundation at tier 1. We can’t have a knee-jerk reaction about sending every child to a tier who doesn’t pass an isolated test #G2Great

A7 The authors state, “Interventions are designed to supplement (not replace or supplant) high-quality classroom instruction.” This must be a schoolwide priority since ignoring the first line of defense means that we view interventions in isolation. #G2Great

A6 I love every resource in the book, but I think that my favorite is the 50+ videos that are so beautifully done. Teachers need these visual learning opportunities and I know that they will use them across the year to engage in collegial dialogue. #G2Great

@DrMaryHoward A5: I like this book for many reasons: differentiated instruction; evidence-based interventions; assessment that is targetted at both individual and the system. All these are done in an environment in which teachers are empowered and have the tools and skills they need. #G2Great

@adriaklein_read @LynnRdgtch @learncs Wish I had recorded the writing part of the lesson bc she told me swirms means "like how a worm would squirm if he had to carry a shell everywhere" I was simply trying to understand what she said & then I realized her intentional word choice

Writing about poor Snail's problem during those unfair races... sometimes we've got to let them invent a new word. Swirm on, Snail! You'll win in the end. I love when my Reading Recovery students get crafty with their writerly language!
