NAME THAT FAVORITE TRACK! 55 Years Ago, the incomparable Marvin Gaye released Whats Going On. It was his 11th album and fostered multiple timeless classics including What's Going On, Mercy Mercy Me (The Ecology), Inner City Blues (Make Me Wanna Holler), and Save the Children.
Recorded in Detroit and Los Angeles, it was Gaye's first album where he was credited as producer and also to credit Motown's in-house session musicians, "The Funk Brothers."
The album established a narrative from the point of view of a Vietnam veteran returning to his home country to witness hatred, suffering, racism, and injustice exploring themes of drug abuse, poverty, and the Vietnam War.
It stayed on the Billboard Top LP charts for over a year and is heralded as one of the greatest albums of all time on numerous lists. What say you?
