Yesterday in Shreveport, Lousiana, 31-year-old Shamar Elkins killed eight children, seven of whom were his biological children. He also shot and injured two women, the mothers of the children. The eighth child was a cousin.
After the shootings, he carjacked a vehicle and fled, leading police on a chase. He was shot and killed by officers during the pursuit.
This was one of the deadliest mass shootings in the U.S. in recent years in terms of child victims.
The coroner says they were identified by their mothers as:
