My 84 year old Grandad, lifelong Chelsea supporter, reading my latest submission in The Observer. He has been supporting my long term goals since I was young, when others around me didn’t believe in the power of social media. Only the start 🙏🔵

In terms of targets I’ve not heard much outside the usual names like Morgan Rogers. Wharton and Baleba are two targets amongst others the club like for a potential midfield addition, but much will depend on what happens with Lavia’s fitness, Enzo and Essugo. On outgoings, it’s expected that at least three centre backs will look to be sold. Chelsea will likely brief confidence in them to not de value and deter offers. The striker and goalkeeper situation is also going to be reviewed, with Liam Delap not doing as well as some inside the club expected. 4/4.

Moises Caicedo, Enzo Fernandez and at least two other players have rejected at least one proposal for a salary increase in recent months. Malo Gusto is said to be a player who has high ambitions and is also looking for a pay increase. 3/3.

Chelsea are behind Liam Rosenior and sympathise that he has come into a situation where the squad is said to be ‘knackered’ and has not had appropriate time to implement his ideas. Summer target lists are underway with all eventualities being considered, as Chelsea feel UCL qualification will likely come down to fine margins in May. There is no current suggestion that the model will be changed. Chelsea also feel that contract statues with many current stars wanting more money is further proof that it would not be wise to chase signings that would be looking for a high base salary. The club want players to be together as a team and earn their money. There is not an appetite to create an entitled and unhealthy culture and the cost to risk ratio is high. Directors are working within the financial restrictions and the model put in place by Behdad Egbhali. There may be an odd exception but generally this is what I’m told. The club are open to spending high transfer fee’s but not salaries straight away. 1/3…

Do you think Chelsea should already sack Rosenior, or are you willing to give him some more time? #CFC 👇🏻

Thierry Henry points out that Rosenior should have been coaching how to adapt when Newcastle broke the #CFC pressing pattern for the goal, but instead just turned away and walked off. #CFC (@SkySportsPL)

Back home. Mood at the ground was not good at all. Fans are very fed up of seeing the same patterns over the years with deep block struggles, inconsistent players and performances, coaches no one asked for etc. Tourists who make no noise and are there for a day out overtaking the ground as well as other fans get priced out. Saw a handful with half and half scarves record the Newcastle fan chants on the way out as we headed back to Fulham Broadway tube station. Mess.

Lot of noise around the club at the moment but I’m here for Chelsea vs Newcastle. With some of the read lately, you wonder if top five even matters that much.

Chelsea so poor. I’d be fine if I thought this was just a bit of a blip but I really don’t think it is, the way Chelsea play I don’t see as sustainable. What’s worrying is this is actually a watered down version of what Liam wants to do with his system and GK from Strasbourg, and it’s still a mess. Squad lacks real depth in so many areas. CB, wings, ST. GK future unclear - going to put pressure on Penders next season? Wouldn’t be smart.

Manchester City were the team showing most interest in Reece James should he have ever left Chelsea I am told. Reece never considered leaving, even when some sources say he was on his own in that thinking during heavy injury spells.

Crazy info here as a club director reportedly told a fan group they have no right to be more annoyed than them, fans aren’t showing patience, the club are obviously building a world class team, Terry isn’t the right professional fir and that a manager’s impact is overestimated.
Pys@CFCPys

🚨 MAJOR BREAKING: A group of fans met with a club director recently, and say they were met with arrogance and dismisivness. Via @NotAProjectCFC • On the departure of Maresca, the director said that a coach’s overall impact is overestimated, and that there is no statistical relationship between managers and results. • According to the board director, problems with Maresca stemmed from him not being offered some of the same contract details that the sporting directors have in place.. • The director could not put a timeline on when Chelsea will compete at the top again, but that it was ‘f’ing obvious we are building one of the best teams in the world” The director denied they were being condescending and told us we have no more right to be upset than they do (despite the fact we are paying fans). • The club’s effort to reduce the wage bill has been seen as a means of offsetting the spend on players so far, and the director was honest about there being no appetite to compete for more established Premier League signings for this reason. A handful of players that have been successful for us were given as some sort of justification for this approach. • The club director spoke very disrespectfully about what was achieved under the previous ownership and of individuals involved in that time. In their view, the current ‘project’ consisting of vast expenditure and player churn is the only means with which we can hope to compete at the elite level at some point in the future. • Chelsea simply cannot afford to compete for the likes of Semenyo and Guehi, and that players with resale value is a more realistic approach. • The club director expressed surprise that, in view of the club still being 13 points off the top of the table at the time (this has risen to 19 points at the time of writing), in the fourth season of a ‘transitional period’, fans are not showing more patience. Although the director admitted they hoped for more progress this season. • Luis Enrique would not be the right fit for us as manager, and John Terry is not the right fit ‘proffesionally’ and should not be involved in first team affairs.

@TheBlueLampCFC Agreed. Acknowledging Sanchez is an ‘unbelievable’ shot-stopper in a match where you were always going to face moments where you needed one too, is an absolute disgrace from Rosenior.

@MaxFSport The goalkeeping decision baffles me the most. In his post-match presser, he defended Jorgensen and said everyone makes mistakes - but it was ultimately a mistake from Sanchez that led to him being dropped despite it being blindingly obvious that he's the better keeper.

First strike on Liam Rosenior. A piece on Rosenior’s on and off the ball approach, a baffling revert on a press conference just 13 days ago, the goalkeeper decision and some post match comments will really annoyed me and many others. chelseacentral.net/lies-naivety-a…
