Depleting your glycogen stores through LCHF diet doesn't reduce your ability to use carbs on the run. However, depleting them through low caloric intake does... academic.oup.com/advances/artic…

@mboydphysio Great question and simple answer is we don’t know! I think strength training can be a great way to help get inactive kids moving, as well as help already active kids remain active!

@AdamMeakins Are these benefits as compared to being inactive? I mean, do kids benefit from strength training specifically- over and above general play and sport? Is sport enough or do they need resistance training also - is what I’m trying to ask in an imprecise way…

@GregLehman That’s what I was thinking. Most economical technique may be different in the fatigued state vs fresh. Meaning that trying to “keep your technique” is a waste of energy. Which is what it feels like at the time.

@mboydphysio It might be more efficient when you are the end of a run but not when you are at the start of a run. You are stressing the muscles differently and in a fatigued state that could be optimal.

Hey @GregLehman, if it’s more efficient to flex over, wouldn’t elite runners have discovered that by trial and error and be afforded a competitive advantage? Then do it from the start line? Why do (most) elite distance runners “look” so graceful? overcast.fm/+NtWm4kZJ0

@GregLehman …with upright posture, high cadence, less over-stride? (most of them anyway)

@GregLehman I don’t. I’m wondering why I run so differently at the end of a marathon (slouch forward, lower cadence, more overstride). Then I try and “keep my form” but it feels harder. So why don’t I run like that the whole way? And if that is more efficient, why do I see elites running 1/2

@PeteOSullivanPT Shouldn’t we stick to our subject matter expertise? I know almost nothing about climate change, energy security, pollution etc. and how they relate to economic development beyond a very basic understanding

Some have asked why I am posting ‘political’ tweets. Critical factors in health care are: care for environment, poverty, homelessness, health policy and funding, protecting marginalized groups. Social determinants are so important. Shouldn’t we hold politicians accountable??

@AdamMeakins But no more than once a week, and 2-3 sessions max? 🤔

This strengthens my views that to help people move more they often need accessible, affordable, and motivating supervised sessions… NOT photocopied sheets of exercises, iPhone apps, fitness trackers or pedometers! pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/35536245/

@Jeukendrup This article seems to focus on the isolated negative effects. Focusing mostly on physiological responses. There may be psychosocial benefits and/or the effects of alcohol intake may not reach a clinically important difference (at least for moderate intake). Thoughts?

@Lentejeta @tomgoom Pubmed has improved its search tool significantly in recent years. Then Google "sci-hub" to find out where it has moved to so you can get the paper

@BasVanHooren Wondershare Filmora isn't free but after trying out free options I'm really glad I shelled out the 80 bucks or whatever it was. It's actually quite fun to use 🙂
