I want to try to explain something about testosterone and performance, since it has become the ‘fixation’ and the ‘the fix’ for inclusion policies for both DSD and trans athletes. So here’s a thread to ‘debunk’ and explain why T level, per se, is not quite the right place to look

"The tendency in academia has been to focus on psychopathological bodybuilding. The focus needs to shift so that we not only have a more balanced view of bodybuilding, but so that we may help those bodybuilders who are suffering to find their feet again." thinksteroids.com/articles/is-bo…

Yes, the AstraZeneca vaccine-thrombosis association is causal. The temporal relationship is strong, it’s not seen with mRNA vaccines, and there’s a plausible mechanism analogous to heparin-induced thrombocytopenia (HIT) nejm.org/doi/full/10.10…

As a scholar leading an NSF-funded project on science advice during Covid @EScAPE_Covid19 I want to express what an incredible public service this reporting is — incredibly informative and also deeply troubling and uncomfortable, but essential Thank you @drsanjaygupta @CNN

While we are beginning to feel the light on our faces after this pandemic, part of me wonders if we will actually take away the lessons we learned this past year. We owe it to every life lost to make sure this never happens again. I hope you’ll be watching tonight. #CovidWar

@mocycling If a cyclist tested positive for nandrolone, its ingestion was almost certainly an accident. It doesn't mean that they weren't doping but likely the steroid or supplement they intended to take was contaminated. Or other reasons that @Scienceofsport mentioned in his article

@mocycling The first thing that drug-tested athletes learn when they use steroids is that nandrolone is the absolute worst drug they can take. It lingers in the body for 18+ months to years.

@TMayglothling I agree with you completely on athlete exploitation. There are many athletes who have been and remain vulnerable. This is wrong. On the other hand, most probably eagers embrace new technologies just as easily as if it were new shoes or bicycle or high-tech swimsuit
