ONE MORE DAY!!!

Heading back into the classroom for the first time since March 2020 on Thursday and am closing up my home office. Found a stash of handwritten letters from students and I suddenly can’t wait to grow my collection again. It’s the little things!

I always suggest students include a resume and any writing samples they may have to submit so I have additional material to work from in my letter. Don't be hesitant to ask for this or ask how you best can support them when writing those letters. Especially now - they chose YOU.

The impact COVID continues to have on us is wide, but continue to do the work to help support our students and get to know them. That relationship building is important, but absolutely critical and vital to many students this year.

I've been getting more requests from former students to write letters of recommendation for them for school/jobs. As their middle school teacher, I'm always humbled, but encourage them to follow up with their high school teachers. The responses this year? "They don't know me."

Tomorrow is my first missed “first day” of school since I was 5. But if it means I get to hang with my kiddo just as she is starting to babble as much as a middle schooler, then I’m here for it. Have a great first day, fam! 😘

Today is the first day of Pride Month! I chatted with students all day about their hopes and dreams, and sometimes even their fears over being a part of the Queer community, especially those just slowing themselves to say it. I love you and celebrate you always. ❤️

Today is the last meeting with my @LoiedermanSGA — it is bittersweet to hear them all say how important SGA was to their mental health. Little do they know it was so important to mine, too. Love these kids. Watch out MCPS high schools! I’m sending some INCREDIBLE humans to you!
