@EliasCassab It's ok, when this is all done he can move into Snowden's apartment. I'm sure they'll get on well.

@Ania_In_UA @CaolanRob Online dweebs and figures like Mick Wallace and Clare Daly are not at all representative of Irish people's feeling on Ukraine. If you go to Ireland you will see Ukrainian flags everywhere, in people's windows, cars, flown from buildings.

@CaolanRob I always thought the Irish are somehow spiritually close to us Ukrainians, as our historical experiences are similar. It is a bit strange and disheartening.

Always surprises me when Irish people shill for Russia. You’re from the same town I grew up in. Do you realise Russia colonised Ukraine like Britain colonised Ireland? The same ruthless use of famine and subjugation. How can you support a regime that is identical?

Its a different situation sure, more needed there then it was here, but the pressure is exactly the same. Feel good 'justice' faced against the need of state structures to quickly run "Lets forget and move on" easiest and clearest solution even if it has a bad taste

Its in moments like this i kinda understand the mentality of the FSN gov in 1990 here. The calls for 'justice' and 'fairness' hit the wall of needing to restore basic administration That can be speedrun only by de facto full amnesty of everyone

The worst case scenario for United Healthcare at this point is that the murderer is actually caught and his motive is derived from a denial of care to (him/loved one/ect.)

Lol, fun fact, Hafez used to let us have CIA black-sites in Syria during the Cold War (IIRC, that was in exchange for some support against Saddam). If Bashar had stepped down when the Revolution started, or even if he’d waited for the first few years, he likely would’ve been living up the high-life in the US (he ‘would not’ have been the first expat dictator we’ve hosted who’s killed tens of thousands of innocent people). Instead, he spent a decade doubling down on killing his own people.

How am I just learning WikiLeaks revealed that in 2010 Bashar Assad told the US government that he’d be willing to betray Hamas — who he compared to the Muslim Brothers his father massacred — in exchange for lifting US sanctions + a Golan-related peace deal with Israel?

@AnalyticaCamil1 Perhaps it's my memory playing up, but wasn't Bashar's regime on board with rendition post Sept 11. until the Iraq invasion?

@AnalyticaCamil1 ... The United States, which really is a civilizational Nation, just allows itself to be derided at home and aboard as an Empire with a dysfunctional society.

@AnalyticaCamil1 One thing the US could learn from Russia is to start talking of itself in civilizational terms. I don't think Russia is a much of a civilizational Nation, but they tell themselves and others they are enough that many of their sins and inadequacies are written off...

Posted it again award 🥇 Btw, these two both live in the US now. Also, this wingnat framing of Russia as the bastion of “white European” people is stupid as hell. Like 30%+ of Russia’s population is “non-white”, and Russians think that’s a good thing actually. The majority of Putin’s close friends hail from Russia’s ethnic minority groups. Speaking bluntly, Russia and the US are the only two countries on Earth that have ‘national identities’ rooted in a fundamentally multicultural, multiethnic framework — if the Kremlin weren’t being a bag of dicks, Russia would be considered the US’ global twin.
