@lxeagle17 Blind luck stopped your 2020 hypothetical - not good election models. The polls in Wisconsin were off by *over seven points.* If polling had been off the other way - showing Trump up 7 and then ultimately losing by .5 - the same election models are now grist for conspiracism

One case I keep thinking of for why we still need good election models and good polling. Let's imagine 2020 was inverted — Trump regularly led by 6 points, and then on election day, he lost by 4. I do think more people would have given credence to the "stolen election" nonsense.

@JesseForIndy I agree with the author that nothing happening (at nat'l level) is disappointing + bad. Police funding is a one-way ratchet I agree that people shouldn't be pundits - voters don't have fixed views - voter outcomes are unpredictable - so just advocate for what you think is right

@JesseForIndy White fear is real + powerful. Large swaths of the public still believe cities literally burnt to the ground in the 20 summer The author says we all know what defund meant, I don't think that's true. It's three words, it's going to be nebulous and interpretive
