⚠️ Update: The internet blackout in #Iran is entering its 17th day after 384 hours. Over the last day a decline has been tracked in reserved telecoms network infrastructure, further reducing VPN availability and sending some whitelisted users and NIN services offline.

⚠️ Confirmed: Metrics indicate a collapse in connectivity on AS12880, a key #Iran telecoms network that had so far remained partly online as part of the ~1% reserved state infrastructure. The incident corroborates reports of instability on the NIN domestic intranet.

There's been a notable drop in the number of videos coming out of Iran in the last 24 hours. I've now heard from multiple sources inside Iran that the government has further tightened its imposed internet blackout by closing loopholes and targeting those with Starlink access.

@SorLh44 @dondiegovegga The above metric reflects networks reachable from our observatory (no relation to web hosting firm Cloudflare) charted over time. This disruption impacts connectivity on an AS associated with NIN infrastructure, which itself fell within a slice of the ~1% remaining connectivity.

@dondiegovegga @netblocks Honestly idk. I think they track the rate of connection of some internet protocols from places like Cloudflare, but I don't know a lot about communication & internet so I'm not sure.

Congo-Brazzaville🇨🇬 President Denis Sassou N’Guesso's government has imposed a nationwide internet blackout on the day of the presidential elections. "Network data show a nation-scale disruption to internet connectivity in the Republic of #Congo", @netblocks reports. His government has made it a habit to switch off network connectivity during presidential elections. A similar blackout was observed during the March 2021 election. N’Guesso, 82, who is seeking re-election, has been in power for a total of 42 years. He is the third longest ruling African leader, after Cameroon ’s Paul Biya and Equatorial Guinea ’s Teodoro Obiang Nguema Mbasogo. In 2015, his government conducted a referendum that removed presidential age limits and term limits, allowing him to remain eligible for office.

"BRAZZAVILLE, March 15 (@Reuters) - A widespread internet outage hit Congo Republic on Sunday, internet monitoring group @NetBlocks said, as the Central African nation voted in a presidential election widely expected to ‌extend 82-year-old Denis Sassou Nguesso's decades-long rule by another five years. Sassou faces a weak field of challengers, with two of the country’s best‑known opposition leaders in prison and others in exile." reuters.com/world/africa/c…
