@Tom_Gann i struggle to understand how people can't get their heads around this when they're clearly capable of getting their heads around the contradictory nature of freedom under capital re. employment. same fuckin process, but these dudes (always dudes) love 2 naturalise caring work.

Personally I have my suspicions on relying on the particular giddy dialectic of the Manifesto for the argument but the idea Marxist & Marxish family abolitionists have failed to consider capital is abolishing the family is embarrassing.

The point surely isn’t anything as ephemeral as “hustle” but far deeper and more international processes (global care chains…) that mean there is a real but differentiated (a privilege of the labour aristocracy might be family opportunities) capitalist abolition.

A huge amount of the most Marxist family abolition arguments (drawing on the part of the Manifesto that makes precisely this argument) try to reckon with thinking the relation & difference between capitalist abolition of the family and the Communist abolition. But yeah, go on.
