The AFCON situation genuinely broke my brain. The referee had the authority to declare that game forfeited on the day itself. The FA could have ruled on it within days. Instead it dragged on - and when the decision finally came, it flipped the entire result retroactively. Morocco declared champs weeks later. Chaos. I'm just starting to get into cybersecurity and it made me think - is there something similar with compliance violations or policy breaches? Like, a rule gets broken, someone had the visibility and authority to act on it early, but nobody does. And by the time it's formally flagged, so many decisions have been built on top of the wrong assumption that correcting it creates a whole new mess? I might be reaching here since I'm very much a beginner still connecting dots. But the AFCON ruling felt less like justice and more like disruption - and I wonder if delayed enforcement in cybersecurity feels the same way to people who work in it. Does this analogy even hold? Would love to hear from people who actually know this space.
