Full statement: “Hello everyone. This will be a long video, but I have a lot to say, so please, bear with me. Many of us are now safe and free from imprisonment and absurd mistreatment. But many of our comrades from the Global South Flotilla are still detained. They must be released now. But most importantly: we are not the story. Thousands of Palestinians are being held in Israeli prisons without trial, including hundreds of children. Millions more live trapped under an illegal siege, in an apartheid regime and a military occupation. They are being systematically starved and bombed. Their basic infrastructure, hospitals, schools, water systems, is being destroyed. Palestinians are denied even their most basic rights: producing their own food, controlling their waters, letting their children go to school. And the world knows this didn’t start on October 7, 2023. Israel’s war crimes have continued for decades, with total impunity, and with the help and legitimization of our governments, institutions, and media. That is the story people should be focusing on. Do not let me, or any of the volunteers on the flotilla, become a distraction. The Global South Flotilla is about solidarity, international solidarity with the Palestinian people. What Israel did wasn’t just to illegally abduct us in international waters and abuse us in prison. It was to stop a humanitarian mission, to block food and medicine from reaching Gaza, in blatant violation of international law, maritime and humanitarian alike. Let’s be clear: our imprisonment by Israel is also a failure of our governments. They constantly speak about “human rights,” “international law,” and “getting aid into Gaza.” Yet when peaceful civilians try to do exactly that, lawfully and nonviolently, they abandon us. This mission should not have to exist. It is a last resort, when every other avenue has failed, when those in power refuse to act, and when the world looks away. States have a legal obligation to end their complicity in genocide, which the UN Commission itself has now confirmed is happening. Their refusal to do so is a crime against humanity. Israel does not have immunity from international law, no matter how much its genocidal propaganda may suggest otherwise. No human being is worth more than another. That includes Israelis. It’s absurd that this even needs to be said. And once again, for the record: We are not running errands for Hamas. We are not terrorists. Israel can recycle its old lies and smear campaigns all it wants, but the world sees through them. Terrorism is the use of violence to instill fear for political control. Does that sound like a peaceful humanitarian mission carrying food, medicine, and baby formula, all in line with international law? So who, then, is the real terrorist here? I stand by what I’ve said and believed since I became an activist at 13. I will keep fighting for a free world, one without oppression, racism, or exploitation. A world that puts human and planetary well-being above profit and geopolitical power. That might sound naive, but I’d rather be called naive than be complicit, silent, or hypocritical in the face of injustice. So I urge everyone: join the global uprising for justice, freedom, and equality. Pressure your governments and institutions to fulfill their legal obligations, to ensure human rights for all. We have truth, morality, international law, justice, love, history, global solidarity, and basic fucking common sense, on our side. The war criminals have only hate, lies, and weapons. Justice will prevail. Free Palestine.”
