Creston Panthers Middle School Girls Basketball

Reminder that 7th-8th grade practice and game uniforms will be picked up at school Wednesday.

The 2023 Creston 7th grade girls basketball team, coached by Teresa Arkfeld and assistant Brenna Baker.

Our Creston 2023 8th grade girls basketball team. They showed up up every day trying to get better. Great attitudes. Also, thanks to assistant coach Brenna Baker for her insights and contributions.

Thursday's games against Shenandoah won't be rescheduled. The season has ended. Uniforms will be picked up at each school next Wednesday. The coaches enjoyed working with both groups this season!

Clarinda 8th grade girls defeated Creston 38-17. Kennedy Strider & Kinzley Downing scored 5 points for Creston. Gretchen Hoepker had 3 and Reese Strunk & Hope Henderson 2 each. Hoepker had 8 rebounds and Strider 5. Henderson & Strider had 3 steals each and Strunk had 2.

Orient-Macksburg junior high girls defeated Creston 7th-8th B team, 50-12, and also won extra quarter, 18-4. Kenna Castelan and Nora Barton each scored 5 for Creston. Reese Strunk added 4 and Kiya Capson 2. O-M scoring: Ella Boswell 34, Mattie Thompson 24, Braillee Shinn 12.

Creston 7th grade girls beat Red oak 41-7. Rohwyn Randall, Jensan Tussey & Willow Pryor each scored 8 points. Shaylee Coen 7 points, Marlee Stalker 6 points. Lauren Purdum & Ricci Johnston each 2 points.

Creston 8th grade girls fell behind 18-0 in the 1st half & outscored Red Oak 11-9 in the second half in a 27-11 loss. Kennedy Strider had 11 points with 4 rebounds & 4 steals. Gretchen Hoepker had 9 rebounds. Nora Barton 3 rebounds & 3 steals. Hope Henderson 3 rebounds, 2 steals.

Ahead 13-6 at half, Shenandoah 8th grade girls defeated Creston, 30-9. Kennedy Strider had 5 points, 8 rebounds & 3 steals for Creston. Hope Henderson and Kinzley Downing each had 2 points & 4 rebounds. Nora Barton had 3 rebounds. Taylor Rohrig finished with 2 rebounds, 1 steal.

Shenandoah 7th grade girls defeated Creston 43-21 Tuesday. Rohwyn Randall & Jensan Tussey each scored 6 for Creston. Other scoring included Ricci Johnston 4, Marlee Stalker 3 and Lauren Purdum and Shaylee Coen each 2. Shenandoah won the B game 30-0.

Glenwood 7th grade girls beat Creston Monday, 36-18. Marlee Stalker scored 10 points for Creston. Shaylee Coen added 6 and Ricci Johnston had 2. Glenwood won the B game 22-0.

Glenwood 8th grade girls beat Creston Monday, 35-18. Kennedy Strider made four 3-pointers and scored 16 points for Creston. Taylor Rohrig added 2 points. Gretchen Hoepker had 7 rebounds and Strider had 6 steals. Glenwood won the B game 12-6. Reese Strunk scored 6 & Kiya Capson 2.

Atlantic 7th grade girls beat Creston 29-17. For Creston, Marlee Stalker 6 points, Rohwyn Randall 4, Ricci Johnston 3, Willow Pryor 2, Shaylee Coen 2. Atlantic won the B game 26-0.

Atlantic 8th grade girls defeated Creston 37-23. Kennedy Strider had 12 points & 5 rebounds for Creston. Hope Henderson had 6 points and 6 steals. Taylor Rohrig 3 points. Nora Barton & Gretchen Hoepker 2 points. Atlantic won B game 27-5. Kiya Capson & Candace Zollman 2 points.

Creston 7th grade girls won at Mount Ayr, 29-18. Scoring for Creston included Ricci Johnston 18 points, Marlee Stalker 10 and Jensan Tussey 1. E. Reynolds scored 12 points for Mount Ayr. Mount Ayr won 8th B game 5-3 (Reese Strunk 3 pts) and Mount Ayr won the 7th B game, 18-0.

An outstanding Mount Ayr 8th grade girls team defeated Creston, 55-5. Tatum Friedrich scored 20 points, Dannie Stewart had 8 & MaKe Jones had 6. Kennedy Strider had 3 points, 5 rebounds & 4 steals for Creston. Hope Henderson had 2 points & 6 rebounds. Kinzley Downing 6 rebounds.

Creston 7th grade girls defeated Red Oak 41-7. Ricci Johnston led Creston with 11 points. Nova Smith and Willow Pryor each had 8. Marlee Stalker, Lauren Purdum and Jensan Tussey had 4 each. Eden Norman-Bozwell added 2 points.

Red Oak 8th grade girls defeated Creston 27-20. Kennedy Strider had 13 points, 6 rebounds & 4 steals. Kinzley Downing had 3 points & 6 rebounds. Taylor Rohrig had 2 points & 4 rebounds, and Hope Henderson scored 2 points with 5 steals. Gretchen Hoepker had 3 rebounds, 2 steals.

Update for Tuesday at Mount Ayr. 8th grade plays FIRST at 4 p.m. followed by 8-minute B game. Then 7th grade plays at about 5:15 followed by 8-minute B game. Enter on the south side of building for middle school gym.

Red Oak has 6 total players on their 8th grade girls basketball team and 6 players total on their 7th grade team, so they will not be playing any type of B game on Monday. Some players may not receive playing time Monday. We are searching for a B game opponent to replace this.
