Been having work done on my house. Had a big ol' ceiling leak. Walls, ceiling etc destroyed. Nice contractor man comes out to give a quote/get measurements (chosen by insurance). Go over everything. Amazing. Tells us it'll be a 7 - 10 day job. Here we are a MONTH LATER and things are still going. And it's not because this was a hard job. It's because nobody speaks fucking English. I can't communicate with the tradesmen WORKING ON MY HOUSE. There are endless miscommunications, which is dragging out the project. And I'm honestly convinced most of them are illegals. I just had to stand in my living room with Google translate because I needed to ask one of the guys a question. They know enough to say, "yes", "no" and "I don't speak English", so I can't even explain when something is wrong or not what was agreed upon. I want to pull my fucking hair out and it's been weeks of this. Even when I go to lengths to find labourers who are American, the American will subcontract to illegals. And it makes me want to do [redacted]. Any dumb bitch who gets on a podcast mic and says illegal labour is a good thing can eat an actual bag of assholes. Because, in practice, it is absolutely fucked. "Oh but they're cheap" Shut the fuck up.
