I’m forever grateful to the Jack Whitten estate & @HauserWirth for allowing me to use Whitten’s work as the cover art for my book. The exhibit, “Jack Whitten: The Messenger,” is spectacular & worth checking out @MuseumModernArt before it closes in early August.

I saw this masterpiece in person, & it did not disappoint! To create this mosaic, the artist Jack Whitten used a mix of materials, including a razor blade in the center. The artist said the razor blade represents “the double edge of black identity,” which “cuts both ways.”

My younger son, born with health challenges while I was in the fog of trying to finish a book & get tenure, turned 10 today. He is amazing and proof of my survival through some of the hardest times of my life. So proud of his progress and mine. Happy birthday to us 🥳✨

I see folks in the ChatGPT college discourse calling for a return to blue books, presentations, no screens, etc. But we should have hard convos re: how we ceded those things in the name of “accessibility.” We can do both, but the state of accommodations needs to be addressed.

RIP ❤️ Professor Kiah Duggins was among those lost in the mid-air plane collision at Reagan National Airport. Professor Duggins was set to begin a new chapter as a professor at Howard University School of Law this fall. May her memory be a blessing.
