Project A-Spec

Project A-Spec is the biggest mod yet in development for Gran Turismo 2. A-Spec features tons of new, lore friendly vehicles, from pure race cars to more modest vehicles to start your journey, and some icons of the saga too! And not only that but also new events to race with them

@jeracerx @after_drake I assume that is why they ended up developing their own car for JGTC instead of running the Protofab one

@projectaspec @after_drake I don't think WEST had the personnel to run a full endurance effort, the wording makes it seems like they either hired outside people to run it, or the car was being loaned out to another team

WEST Racing's Protofab Corvette with Doug Rippie prepared engines' sole race was the 1994 Suzuka 1000k, where according to the WEST blog, the personnel running car had little experience with American V8s, destroying 3 engines over the weekend and only lasting 28 laps in the race

@jeracerx wasn't the 97 car registered as a Diablo GTR though? I guess one reason could be that

The Diablo GT1 being FIA homologated is one of those baffling things that I've never seen an explanation for, considering it was in 1998, the year after it was built I'm guessing either A: JLOC needed it for JGTC (which seems odd) B: JLOC wanted to run the FIA GT Suzuka 1000K

@ExhaustHeatII according to PD they actually had to ask not Lambo but JLOC for the licensing of this

Bummer this thing was removed from NA releases of GT3 but Ferrari and Lambo licensing is weird in North America.

@projectaspec The blue arrow next to all of the rounds opens a drop down menu for that round when you click on it, there's a pictures tab in there

Also digging around that P9 site reveals that there are fully archived pictures of every race from the 1996 BPR season, here's a few of the ones I've never seen anywhere on the modern internet:

this thing is one of my favorite shitboxes in the history of motorsports. because no, this is not a lamborghini countach. it is a replica. that multiple different teams decided to enter in the gt1 class of british gt and the gt500 class in the jgtc.

@jeracerx PD: makes RUF the replacement of Porsche and puts them in the GT series for years also PD when the EA agreement ended:

God the last few years have made me annoyed that RUF just doesn't show up in games anymore, they've been putting out whatever the hell they feel like and it's great
