I say gift because Giannis is the best role model my son and our family could ever ask for. May God continue to bless this man and his family as he has blessed us.

Rooting for Giannis Antetokounmpo has truly been the easiest thing a sports fan could ever wish for. I am so ridiculously proud to have watched this man grow with, lift up, and win for the team that drafted him, and the city he now calls home. A kid from nothing who came here 12 years ago. Didn’t speak the language. Didn’t have a place to stay. Didn’t have his family by his side, who he holds so uniquely close to his heart. I know to some this may sound like overkill, but over the years, Giannis has taught me a lot about my own life. How to navigate tough times. How to prioritize what’s important. How to fight for what matters most to you and you only, no matter the cost or perception from others. I had the chance to meet Giannis and Thanasis after a game one day in Philly. They met us in the tunnel despite the rest of the team already exiting the arena. They shook our hands. They smiled endlessly. Giannis asked me question after question about MY life. About how my friends and I met. About our goals, about our jobs. I couldn’t believe it. And the only reason he left the conversation after giving us over 10 minutes of his time? Security guards told him the bus was going to leave without them. Giannis refused. They insisted. Go figure. For Milwaukee, 34 has been a godsend to a franchise that desperately needed something, and more importantly, someone, to root for in every sense of the word. Giannis came in and gave us all of that, and so much more. I don’t know where things go from here. Conjecture isn’t helpful at this time. But even after a devastating loss, this guy somehow has the power to make it all have felt like a win. Gracious in victory. Consistently humble in defeat. The greatest Milwaukee Buck of all time. Giannis forever.
