i was SA’d when i was 20 years old. i went to the hospital to do a rape kit and the doctor (who was a white man) asked me how i let this happen. once the doctor completed the rape kit and left the room, i sat up and started crying. the nurse wrapped me in a hug and let me cry on her shoulder. when i went to report him to his superior (he was in the military), they told me it wasn’t worth it. the man told me that he would receive a slap on the wrist and i would humiliate myself if i made it public. I decided to walk away and pretend it never happened. the bite marks took weeks to go away. there isn’t a day that goes by that i wish i would have done more. the Epstein survivors are some of the bravest people I have ever seen.
This year we are returning after a much needed break with renewed energy and focus. Heaux History Project's mission remains the same: to document Black erotic labor history and present.
